A Delightful Tango Night
at the Astor Piazzolla Theater
We invite you to experience an evening
of passion, charm, beauty and sensuality; a night of Tango
at the new Art and Theater Center dedicated to Astor Piazzolla,
the most inspiring and gifted tango composer
of the twentieth century.
Astor Piazzolla was recognized for
his music and was acclaimed in Europe, South America, Japan
and the United States as a superlative musician and composer.
He definitely brought the Tango a long way from when it was
first danced in Buenos Aires a century ago by two pimps on
a street corner. Piazzolla’s compositions gave Tango a new
face, a new look. His works and his compositions influenced
the best musicians and composers of that period and made
Tango the music we now love
and appreciate, the music that has also
seduced millions of new
tango fans around the world,
who after their first dance have
decided to tango on for ever.
As Carlos Gardel is the key figure
of Tango’s classic era, Piazzolla is the key figure, developer
and inspiration of the New Tango era. On July 4, 1992 the
Tango world cried over Piazzolla’s
death. For decades Piazzolla had been the Tango ambassador
to the World, like he once said “I was born in Argentina,
raised in New York, found my way while in Paris,
but every time I go on stage, people
know I’m going to play the music of Buenos Aires.” This top-notch
show of classic and new tango that you will enjoy is our tribute
to Piazzolla and his fascinating music.
